Leadership Spotlight: Jamie Copeland

How (and why) did you get involved with Box of Balloons? ​

I learned about Box of Balloons at a summer festival, and instantly feel in love with the organization's mission! Birthdays have always been a big deal for my family, and I want other families to be able to feel the same joy our family experienced as we took time to celebrate. I also believe that we need to take every opportunity to make children feel celebrated and loved. In January of 2014, I joined the team as the Birthday Bash coordinator.

I spend my time with the Box of Balloons team organizing the details for all things Birthday Bash: the party theme, venue, entertainment, tasty treats, decorations, and volunteers. I love being a part of this inspiring team of women, who wear multiple hats in their life, and still find time to make birthdays happy for kids in need!

Tell us a little about you:

I’m a wife, mom of 2, and captain of the hot mess express! Most days you’ll find me running my in home daycare or working as part of a church leadership team. I love event planning, coffee, Saturday morning breakfast, board/card games, crafting, ice cream, and cupcakes.

What is your favorite birthday memory?

I am lucky enough to have a hard time choosing from all of my birthday memories! When I was younger, my family would get together every year at my Grandma's house for my birthday. The house would be full of aunts, uncles, and cousins to play with. I would always have a cookie cake made by my aunt. We would also go to a parade and festival in town! Family, sweets, and carnival rides - what more could a little girl want on her birthday?

What’s one of your favorite birthday box themes you’ve seen?

My favorite birthday theme is unicorns! The parties are so colorful, magical, and creative.
