Meet Marlecia, our Kids Helping Kids Coordinator and team leader for the Waterloo/Marshall chapter. We have a quick interview

with her so you can learn more about our leadership team!

How (and why) did you get involved with Box of Balloons?

I learned of Box of Balloons from a family member and immediately knew I had to be a part of this organization. Our mission is simple, but can have such a big impact on the lives of the kids and families we serve. My life’s mission is to provide hope for better days ahead to those experiencing hard times. I believe “to touch someone with kindness is to change someone forever.” Through the kindness and generosity of the volunteers, we are providing hope to families in need.

Tell us a little about you:

I am a wife to Bryan and mommy to our sweet and spunky daughter, Anniston. We live in Waterloo, WI. I am a lover of coffee, all things chocolate, music, and learning new things.

What is your favorite birthday memory?

Growing up, my mom always made me feel very special on my birthday. During grade school, she would send me a birthday balloon bouquet at school. Receiving the bouquet made me feel very loved. Every child deserves to feel that same way on their special day

What’s one of your favorite birthday box themes you’ve seen?

My favorite birthday box was a Frozen themed box my chapter put together a few years ago. The cupcakes were made into an Olaf and the birthday gift was a beautiful Elsa costume/dress. The box was jammed packed with so many wonderful things that I knew, if even for one day, this little girl wouldn't be the one "without".
