Leadership Spotlight: Stephanie Dercks
Meet Stephanie Dercks, our Social Media Specialist for Box of Balloon’s Facebook page. We have a quick interview with her so you can learn more about our leadership team!
How (and why) did you get involved with Box of Balloons?
I moved to Madison a few years ago, where I was introduced to and fell in love with the Box of Balloons mission. As a proud Auntie who loves to spoil her nieces, the thought of any child going uncelebrated pulls at my heart strings! I volunteer with the hope that I am bringing just a few more smiles and happy memories to kiddos in need!
Tell us a little about you:
I am a product marketer, lover of pasta, and Fur Mama to my sweet Dachshund pup, Finley. I love crafty projects, shopping, exploring the local brunch scene, and cooking new recipes. I am a believer that happiness stems from what we give, not what we get.
What is your favorite birthday memory?
I am lucky to have grown up with amazing friends and family who made me feel loved and celebrated on my birthdays. My favorite birthday memory is from grade school when I received by first "big girl bike". I remember my dad had taken me to a bike shop prior to my big day to test drive some! Every child deserves to feel that same excitement on their special day!
What’s one of your favorite birthday box themes you’ve seen?
My favorite part of doing social media for BOB is looking at all the completed birthday boxers that our chapters send out. I am always amazed at the creativity our volunteers put into the contents. My favorite theme so far has been a science theme for a little girl. Guests got to decorate mini lab coats and create slime. What kiddo wouldn't love that?
