Hi, I’m Ellen! I have been married for 12 years to my husband Phil and we have three children Max (8), Nicholas (6) and Emily (4). I was born in Kentucky, grew up in Pennsylvania and returned to Kentucky to attend the University of Kentucky. I’ve been here ever since! I enjoy being outdoors especially to bike, swim and run. I love spending time with family, reading, and baking cakes from scratch, particularly birthday cakes!
I heard about Box of Balloons on a local radio station. The mission to bring joy to children in our local community inspired me. Through working and volunteering in our local schools, I have seen firsthand the joy a simple act of kindness can bring a child in need.

Hello, I am Liz Peace Yates. I grew up in Lexington, Ky. I attended the University of Kentucky majoring in advertising and public relations. After college, I moved away from Lexington for 14 years. Living in New Orleans, Cincinnati and Nashville. I moved home in 2017. My husband and I have been married just under two years. I guess we are still considered newlyweds. J Both our families also live in Lexington, so we enjoying spending time with them. I enjoy traveling, biking and live music.
I have always been a “big birthday person.” This is the reason that I am drawn to Box of Balloons. I feel that birthdays should be a time to celebrate. A time to bring together family and friends. The celebration reminds a child of the love in his or her life.
